Mitten number 1

I have finished my first mitten woohoo! At least ill have one warm hand now. If anyone would like the pattern please comment.

I used a 4 ply yarn: I'd say between the two mittens it will use less than 100g of yarn. Not sure the official letter, but I used a 2mm crochet hook (I think)
The pattern:

The mitten
-Chain 2
-Foundation of 10
- Single crochet until corner/end then 2 sc in the corner stitch, repeat on the other side
-Single crochet until same point as last time, sc in the stitch, 1 single crochet, then 2 sc again in the next stitch then single crochet round to other side and repeat
-Sc until same point again and repeat but do 2 sc between the 2 increases on the corner. Then repeat this row again
-2 sc in one stitch, 3 sc and then 2 sc in the next stitch and repeat this all the way round for one row
-Sc for 5 rows
-On last row sc until you get to one of the sides, leave 10 stitches (5 either side of the fold from side) and chain 6, and sc into the 11th stitch, This will then create a space for your thumb, then sc until you get to the start again
-4 sc and then 2sc in the next stitch and repeat this for another row
-Sc for 2 rows
-3 sc then sc 2 stitches together (decrease), and repeat for one row
-5 sc then sc 2 stitches together (decrease) and repeat for one row and with the last stitch slip stitch into the previous row
-Then chain 2 and double crochet for 4 rows (this is for the wrist). You can do more of less here depending how far you want the mitten to come down on your wrist, then slip stitch and finish and cut the yarn

The thumb
-Slip stitch with a new bit of yarn into the thumb whole (anywhere), chain 1, then single crochet for the rest of the row and end with a slip stitch into the last stitch. Repeat this for 5 rows
-Chain 1, *3 sc and decrease 2 stitches* and repeat for rest of the row and finish with a slip stitch. Repeat this for 2 rows
-Chain 1, sc all way round, end with a slip stitch
-Chain 1, *4 sc, then decrease 2 stitches together* and repeat. Ending with a slip stitch
-Chain 1, * 1 sc and decrease every other stitch * and repeat, then slip stitch
-Now get a tapestry needle and loop it through all the remaining stitches and pull to close the end in the thumb hole, knot and weave to in side the thumb

And your done! Hope that all makes sense, if not just pop me a message and I'll answer your queries :)

Dolly Loom

When I visited my nan a while back to have me this dolly loom device which you use to create coils or something similar. It looks complicated but It isn't when you get going.

Mittens

I have lost my gloves and really need something to keep them warm! I looked around a few shops but they don't seem to have many pairs around as they have spring/summer stuff in so I have decided to make some mittens :)

I am not following a pattern as such, but I have watched a few tutorial videos on YouTube so I've got an idea what I'm doing. I am making them in a new yarn I got the other day, is 4 Ply and is black with silver/ white fleck in it. Is very nice, this is my progress so far:

Crochet Vest

I have been looking at some crochet patterns, and would really love to make a little vest/ waistcoat/ jacket for the spring/summer. I am not planning of making it anytime soon but found some patterns I would really like to have a go at.

Crochet Purse No.2 Finished

I decided to add a flower in the end, with a few little extras: e.g. a pearl in the centre of it and also some green petals just to make it a bit more authentic.
I am actually very happy to say that I am really pleased with it, and that I think it looks very professional, and like something you would buy in a shop :)

Here is the finished product:

Crochet Coin Purse Update

I have almost finished the coin purse, this is what it currently looks like:

I want to put something on the purse, like a flower or something similar but am not 100% sure yet,

this is a post I done ages ago with a flower on it:

Coin Purse No.2

I am making another little cute coin purse. The handle is silver for this one as opposed to gold. I will have the bottom half navy, the top a pinky/burgundy colour and I will add a nice cream crochet flower on it.

Here is how it is going so far!

Knitted hat

I found a knitting pattern for a rib hat and I decided to give it a go! I am not using the recommended yarn as I prefer really chunky yarn

This is the pattern: there is also a matching scarf

I have slightly changed the pattern though, where they did 9 inches of 2 by 2 rib I only did about 7 1/2 inches as I was using a chunkier wool.
After finishing it now though, I wish I had done those extra 1 1/2 inches as it may have made it more baggy and a 'looser' look.
I may add a bobble to it at some point

Here it is:

I know it's unrelated to knitting and crochet but I just got these really cute new rings and thought I would share it with you! All very reasonable prices, got them off eBay!

New Wool For Jumper

I have done some serious wool hunting and have a bargain! I bought this wool to use to make my jumper, but I am not sure how soft it will be so I may have to buy some other stuff but we will see, just awaiting it's delivery so I can get started :)

3 Needle Experiment

I got some small double pointed needles from my nan, in which I wanted to experiment with how to use them in a 'triangular' shape to make things like socks stc.

Here is my attempt so far:

I think the outcome has been successful in terms of learning how to do it, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be, so I have bought some larger ones which I am waiting to be delivered!

Ruffled Scarf

Along with the same visit as receiving the double pointed needles, my nan gave this ruffled scarf for me to try and replicate and make myself. Initially I looked at it and thought no chance! I sat down and had a look and figured out how I thought it was done and the results are as follows:

The original scarf ^

Obviously there is still a lot to do! But I just wanted to show how it is coming along! I will post later how I did it :)

Seriously Chunky Snood

I recently bought 4 balls of seriously chunky wool (in a few previous posts ago !) and I came to the decision to make a super chunky snood.
I used both colours and used a variety of stitches, mostly knit one row and purl next which created this nice wavy and textured effect. I did just knit sections to break it up a bit

Here are my progression photos;

Alice Jumper

I really want to make a jumper, it has been an aim of mine for a while but I haven't felt ready to do it! But I have finally found a pattern which I really like and am going to give a go!
It's called a jumper called an 'Alice Jumper' and I really love the colours and the design so I think I will give it a go. The pattern also requires me to use a circular needle which is good as I have two of the appropriate lengths.

I am not able to buy the wool from the pattern as it's from America, but I will try and find a similar one, possibly one slighty more chunky but I am unsure at the moment!

Here is the link:

Purse Frames

I have finally received my little purse frames (I ordered ages ago but sent them to wrong address!) So I will begin making some little crochet purse bags for them. I will keep you updated on how I get on- I am still aiming for them to look like the ones I previously posted!

Marcie

Knitted Hat

As you may have noticed, I haven't been doing much knitting as I have taken a real interest to crochet at the moment but I decided to pick the needles back up :)

Today I received my second circular needle! The needles are UK size 8, and the length of the needle is 40cm. So I decided to make a hat which will match my navy snood which I have previously made!

This is my first knitted hat so I will admit t didn't come out exactly as I wanted as I didn't use a pattern I just made it up as I went along, the outcome wasn't too bad!
I created a rib round the bottom and did plain knit stitch on the hat. There you go! Let me know what you think!

Here is the matching snood!

Crochet socks!

I watched a video about making some socks ages ago and I have finally decided to give it a go!

I crocheted then using a cream yarn, just to see how they turned out. Next time as I found them successful I would use a fluffy yarn so that they are more like bed socks/ slipper socks.

I did slightly make my socks different to the ones in the video, as I started off making a foundation of 12 rather than 10 so they were slightly bigger.

Here is the video:

Crochet Coasters

I watched a video about these crocheted earrings and it gave me the idea to crochet some mug coasters using old bangles. Was really easy to do and I did slightly change what she did in the video, but I think they have turned out quite well!!

Peter Pan Collar 2!

I decided to make another collar. I really liked making the first one and was so easy easy to do, so I thought I would try and progress, therefore I added beads to this one!
I am really happy with it, the colour probably isn't the nicest but I think the pearl beads look nice with it.
